2026 RACE TO GENDER EQUALITY / INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S MONTH

This year marks 10 years of advocacy for women and girls through the Motsepe Foundation’s GEWAL Centre.

Ambassadors Caster Semenya and Miss South Africa 2025 and Empower Youth Africa (EYA) ambassador, Qhawekazi Mazaleni, will join participants, symbolically running and walking for causes ranging from equal pay and gender-based violence awareness to STEM access and leadership representation for women.

March marks Women’s Month, and with International Women’s Day taking place on Sunday, 8 March, the 2026 Race to Gender Equality will take place on Sunday, 15 March 2026 at the Hillcrest Sports Campus, University of Pretoria.

The event will also feature a special performance headlined by renowned DJ and entrepreneur DJ Zinhle, bringing an added celebration of women’s power, creativity, and cultural influence to the day.
