Heating things up this winter, AUCOR announces its biggest auction road show across South Africa

(Johannesburg, 17 May) – Auction floors will be filled with eager buyers next week as AUCOR prepares to host a staggering 15 auctions around the country over one week from the 20th to the 27th of May.  Bidders will be spoilt for choice as a selection of vehicles; trucks, mining and construction equipment; lifestyle and outdoor items will be “going for a song” as they fall under the auction hammer in this unprecedented event.

This is quite the feat, to have this many auctions from one company taking place over such a short period of time.  Our Super Saturday auctions in Johannesburg, in particular, have become a highlighted calendar event for buyers looking for the best deals,” comments AUCOR’s spokesperson, Fanie Bielderman.

AUCOR prides itself on its 49 years of experience and is regarded as the leading auction authority in Africa with an extensive infrastructure and a growing network of offices across various territories in southern Africa.  South Africa itself boasts five auction houses across its unique national footprint.
A highlight of the auction road show is the charity auction, K.I.D.S in Dire Straits Blanket Run, taking place at the Hard Rock Café on Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton on Sunday, 21 May, where a Harley Davidson 883 Iron and items including a signed guitar by two members of The Doors, a wrapped helmet, gift packs, Weber braai and festival tickets and vouchers will be up for grabs.
The vehicle auctions (bank repossessed and insurance salvage vehicles and trucks) are expected to bring in an impressive turnout of at least 200 buyers per auction.  “In Bloemfontein alone, we are putting around 160 vehicles on auction and similarly across the country, so we’re looking at close to 800 vehicles being auctioned next week,” says AUCOR Bloemfontein’s Managing Director, Jacques van der Linde.  “AUCOR Bloemfontein will also be hosting an online mining auction which is a ‘clean-up’ operation where you will find anything from surplus earthmoving equipment and bakkies to redundant mining equipment and furniture.  Bidding can only be done online.”

The week-long series of auctions culminates at the Kosmosdal (Centurion) branch on Saturday, 27 May with the not-to-be-missed Super Saturday vehicle and lifestyle auctions.  The auctions will include a selection of luxury and exotic vehicles and supercars, as well as various warehouse items including electronics, accessories, jewellery, household, catering, outdoor and office supplies.

On why people should consider buying on auction, Bielderman comments that “for a buyer, auctions are smart investments that are acquired at less than wholesale prices through competitive bidding.”

For a good deal and the best auction experience, AUCOR welcomes all buyers to attend the various auctions nationally.  “We would also like to encourage new buyers to come and experience the world of auctioneering.  At AUCOR, we recognize that not everybody is a seasoned auction buyer and we offer a support network to assist them, ” explains Bielderman.

Bielderman also offers some tips for the auctions: “Familiarise yourself with all the lots on auction before deciding what you want.  Make sure that you have a good look at what you are buying and make sure you understand the terms and conditions.  Don’t wait for the last opportunity to bid, you might lose out.”

AUCOR will over the next couple of months also be embarking on a campaign to educate the public about the ins and outs of buying through an auction.
