Swallows FC ended Saturday evening top of the 2020-21 DStv Premiership standings following a 0-0 draw with TS Galaxy at Dobsonville Stadium.

Both teams remain unbeaten in South Africa’s top-flight this season with the Dube Birds moving above Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates on goal difference. A point is enough for the Rockets to jump up to sixth ahead of Sunday’s round of fixtures.
The first chance of the match fell at the feet of Ruzaigh Gamildien in the eighth minute but Wensten van der Linde was quick off his line to deny the Swallows forward, after he had burst through on goal.
Galaxy squandered a glorious opportunity of their own on the half hour mark. Wayde Lekay dispossessed Njabulo Ngcobo in a dangerous area but with only the goalkeeper to beat, Nation Ndlovu, who had run onto the loose ball, struck his attempt wide.
Gamildien had another chance to put Swallows ahead before the break and the in-form forward had the beating of van der Linde with a looping header but the ball struck the woodwork before hopping harmlessly into the shot-stopper’s grateful arms.
Galaxy came close to breaking the deadlock themselves in the 55th minute as Lekay finally had the better of Virgil Vries, but Tlakusani Mthethwa tracked back well to clear the striker’s shot from danger.
Both teams continued to press forward in search of what would’ve been a decisive goal in the pouring rain, but despite all the positive intent, the game ultimately ended in goalless stalemate.
