Cheesed off and bellicose White City residents in Soweto were up in arms again this morning.

They blockaded the ever busy Elias Motsoaledi and Mputhi streets with heavy rocks and burning tyres bringing the usual gridlock morning traffic to a halt.

As a result there was a complete cul-de-sac to all roads leading to those streets and the nearby Engen Garage for the better part of the morning.

According to them their anger was sparked by Eskom’s refusal to fix a transformer box that supplies electricity to  more than four dozens houses.

They say this has been their quandary for months now despite reporting the matter to the Power utility and the local councillor.

When approached by this Publication, at first they steadfastly refused to comment and warned the reporters not to publish their pictures.

But when confronted for the second time, they told the reporters this was going to be the order of the day until Eskom fixes their problem.

On the sidelines, the much maligned Johannesburg Metropolitan Officers looked gobsmacked and flummoxed not knowing how to control the protesters and the jammed roads.

At the time of going to print Eskom were yet to comment.
