As Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs battled it out at the 176th Soweto Derby on Saturday, Madimetsa Konaite, winner of the DStv My Perfect Match Experience, lived out an ultimate football fan’s dream out at the FNB stadium.
Konaite, who won a wonderful once-in-a-lifetime experience courtesy of DStv Rewards, got a full-on VIP treatment as he was chauffeured from home to the stadium where he watched the game from a hospitality suite. Upon arrival at the match, hewas met by renowned DStv talent with the cherry on top being the special moment ofmeeting his favourite club’s players Edmilson Dove, Itumeleng Khune and Yusuf Maart at fulltime.
“I thought witnessing my team Chiefs defeat Pirates live at the stadium would be great but meeting coach Zwane at the end of the game and reflecting on the game with him, was out of this world. When I met the coach and the players, I got so emotional and couldn’t believe I’m the lucky fan who won this amazing prize”, said Konaite.
This was the second time Konaite watched the Soweto Derby live at the stadium, with the first one ending in a draw five years ago. “Being treated like VIP this time around made my second Soweto Derby experience special and I encourage other football loving people like me to enter this competition on the DStv App”, he added.
Konaite was one of three winners of the exciting three-fold My Perfect Match Day Experience (Match, Studio and Home Experiences), whichgives football fans an opportunity to experience the best sides of iDiski through tailored experiences.
Palesa Sithole from Tshwane won the Studio Experience on the day. She said: “What I experienced on Saturday doesn’t evencome close to what I’d imagined. I ama big Pirates fan and always watch the game on TV, and Thomas Mlambo is my favourite broadcaster. Meeting and engaging with him was simply amazing. Whata gentleman. Seeing how the broadcast element works on match day was trulyan amazing experience.”
Palesa got to experience what it takes to put together a stellar broadcast of a match of this magnitude, which started with hervisit to the SuperSport studios in Randburg where she was interviewed live on TV by the Super Saturday including Anele Mdoda and meeting Josta Dladla, Victor Matfield and Portia Modise on the show amongst other guests. Palesa was then chauffeured to FNB stadium where the production crew took her on a tour of OB trucks and production plan.
The third winner, Nkosingiphile Mhlanga, also a staunch Orlando Pirates fan, invited her friends to a special big screen viewing and braai at home, along with popular actor Sipho Manzini who plays Mjekejeke on The Queen.
The DStv Premiership Soweto Derby weekend proved to be a remarkable once-in-lifetime-experience for the three winners.
