FOLZ: SUNDOWNS TO PROVIDE GOOD TEST FOR USUTHU

AmaZulu FC head coach Romain Folz believes Mamelodi Sundowns will provide a good test for his side following the MTN8 final result.

The French tactician admitted that the mood is low in the camp after losing 1-0 to Orlando Pirates in the final at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban last weekend.

However, Folz stated that facing Sundowns, who are the reigning DStv Premiership champions, on Saturday will help him see how quickly his charges can bounce back when they meet at the FNB Stadium.

“Playing Sundowns in the first game for me is a very good test to see how quick we are able to rebound,” Folz said.

“But again, I think a lot of people are making a big deal saying there was a loss, probably we’re still very much shaken by that and everything pretty much saying the loss is gonna be in their mind for a long time.

“Losing is part of the game. You cannot hide here and say ‘because of that, I’m not going to perform’. There is no excuse, and I know my team will be strong mentally,” the 32-year-old added.

“I think we will look back on that event in a few weeks, a few months, it will make us strong. In hard times it is when you build some kind of toughness from the team.

“It is not always nice, it is not always easy – sometimes you go through these moments for a reason. I believe this will help us.”

The winner between Usuthu and Masandawana will face either Pirates or Kaizer Chiefs in the final at the same venue, while the losing team takes part in the third-place play-off penalty shootout.

The encounter between AmaZulu and Sundowns will kick-off at 9h30 am today.
