Dozens of football lovers who attended the much revered DSTV eKasi Champ of Champs in the past three weeks believe this is one football tournament that must be a story of our lives.
In an informal snap survey conducted by this Publication throngs of fans unanimously gave this tournament 10/10 on a richter scale due to enterprising and high octane football skills displayed at this fast growing tourney.
Their sentiment was echoed by the Tournament organizers and stakeholders who also gave the tournament a big thumbs up.
Neo Radise, Senior Manager Mass Segment at DSTV, said on the final day.
“This was the most electrifying environment. Talent is at its best, Support is unbelievable, there is vibe and we can’t complain of anything. This is going to develop into a big tournament in future.”
Cameron Mathebula, COO of the tournament was also on cloud nine.
“We are very excited with everything. There is fireworks, full support and high octane football.”
Themba Badela, Black Poison coach, Losers finalist team in the plate final, “ We are happy with the entire organisation of the tournament. Everything went on point. We ve done our best but disappointed that we lost at the end.”
Mandla Mdakani, Chairman of SSU the winning Plate Cup said, “We are happy with everything and very excited with our win and players. Everything went according to plan.”
Back to the story, Phaphama FC, a Mpumalanga based outfit were crowned 2023 DSTV eKasi Champ of Champs at the Dobsonville Stadium.
They beat Swidi Wodwa, Orange Farm based outfit 3-2 on penalties after the match ended 1-1 in regular time.
Phaphama took home a whooping R250 00 prize money while SSU won the plate after beating Black Poison 3-1 pocketing R70 000.
