The Gender-based Violence and Femicide Response Fund 1 (GBVF RF) is proud to announce its strategic partnership with the Standard Bank Top Women’s Conference. This collaboration is a significant step towards creating a safer and more inclusive society by empowering women and eliminating Gender-Based Violence and Femicide.
Sazini Mojapelo, CEO of the Fund, emphasizes the importance of economic and business success in the empowerment of women. “Women who succeed in the world of work have greater agency and are less vulnerable to violence,” she states. “Simultaneously, the workplace offers a unique opportunity to educate both women and men, fostering a more equitable society. The private sector has a pivotal role to play in eradicating GBVF, and we believe this partnership will catalyse a constructive dialogue to deepen the understanding of these critical issues.”
As part of the collaboration, the GBVF Response Fund will host an hour-long panel discussion during the Standard Bank Top Women’s Conference. The panel aims to raise awareness and commitment within the private sector to take action against GBVF within their organisations.
The panellists will introduce the Fund’s Private Sector Coalition, aligning it with the National GBVF Prevention Campaign – RESPECT – and the overarching National Strategic Plan on GBVF. The discussion will also facilitate the exchange of best practices in addressing GBVF in the workplace, encouraging the development of policies and collaborative frameworks to eliminate it. A Q&A session will provide a platform for addressing questions and paving the way for future cooperation.
“The Top Women Conference serves as a powerful platform for female leaders to share ideas that can transform the business landscape. We are thrilled to partner with it to share our vision of a GBVF-free workplace and to unite in our pursuit of this goal,” Mojapelo expresses.
The panel discussion is scheduled for Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 14:50 at The Galleria, Sandton. Registration for the Standard Bank Top Women Conference is available online.
