BAFANA READY TO KICK OFF WORLD CUP CAMPAIGN ON GOOD NOTE

18 November 2023- Durban has rolled out the red carpet and treated the South African senior national men’s football team very well ahead of the start of their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

Coach Hugo Broos’ charges arrived in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday afternoon (17 Friday, November 2023) to cheering crowds on the sidewalks of their hotel on the beach front, and the city has beamed with friendly fans, happy that the game has come to their province.

Outside of the fanfare, it’s business as usual within the nucleus of the camp and the pressure it contains going into their World Cup qualifiers.

“When the draw was done with the groups, and I maintain this is not the worst group, but it is tricky if you take a look at the results of the past few days, and the draws that have taken place, especially Nigeria. So winning at home is important and when you don’t, you have to pick up the points away and in Africa it is very difficult,” said Coach Hugo Broos.

“We know it is going to be tough at home and away, and we know what Benin will come up with. We have trained extensively this week and we are ready, and I’m very confident that we achieve and engaged with the correct mentality. But let’s not forget that on the opposing side, they have an experienced coach, and a good start for the World Cup qualifiers is very important.”

The tickets to the World Cup qualifier against Benin are available for purchase at Ticketpro. General admission tickets are available at R50 (adults) and R20 (kids under 13 Years).
