ITS GAME ON AND DERBY DAY TODAY!!!! KUZOBA MNANDI NAMHLANJE

A mouth-watering derby match not to be missed. Its all systems go for a Dstv Premiership derby  between the two Soweto football giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

This is the 180th rivals meeting between the two sides in the mzansi Football history.

They are expected to lock horns this afternoon at a packed to the rafters iconic FNB stadium.

Chiefs brags the head to head rights over Pirates in the past meetings.

However Bucs are favourites after winning the first round match in the 2023/24 season.

When the teams met this season in November 2023, Pirates claimed a 1-0 win thanks to a 20th strike from Evidence Makgopa. The result broke a streak of five successive league wins for Chiefs in this rivalry.

At a recent midweek  Derby media Briefing held at Maslow Hotel in Sandton ,  Stadium Management South Africa Managing Director Bertie Grobbelaar revealed they have put all plans in place to avoid gridlocked and traffic congestion and urged fans to play a role as well to avoid congestion.

“Plan your travelling to the venue. Dozens of designated security personnel will be on hand to deal with those involved in nefarious acts such illegal car guards and others. There will be a special unit responsible for that.”

Grobbelaar also revealed there will be 6 drones in the area maintaining overcrowding and congestion.

BACK TO THE STORY!!!! Both clubs have revealed their intentions to give a five star performance in this Derby match.

Amakhosi Coach Cavin Johnson, said his team has to go to the pitch and entertain and give everybody joy they want.

While Chiefs Midfielder, Kegan Dolly revealed this was a special match in many ways because of the history and the players who played before them.

“Being in the packed FNB stadium is something special for all of us.”

Bucs Coach, Jose Riveiro said, “As usual when facing a game of this magnitude, We have to exercise extra concentration and perform in an expected way.

Buccaneers Skipper, Innocent Maela told packed journalists , form doesn’t count on these derby matches.

“We won the first encounter and wont rest on our laurels for this one as well.”

His teammate and Bucs  forward Tshegofatso Mabasa told the media they key thing is to perfom with confidence.

“We will do our talking on the pitch.”
