TOWNSHIP BASED FOOD DELIVERY APP SERVICE LAUNCHES IN MPUMALANGA

Delivery Ka Speed, an app-based service that delivers food from local vendors, fast-food chains, and retailers to township communities in Gauteng, Limpopo and North West provinces, is set to service communities in Mpumalanga from June. The name means ‘speedy delivery’ in Sepitori.

Founded in 2021, Delivery Ka Speed aims to provide convenience to township consumers while cultivating a culture of gig work for unemployed youth by enabling them to earn a sustainable income, and eventually to own an asset, as drivers.

“Roads in townships are generally unmapped and hard to navigate, and this impacts providers’ ability to deliver goods efficiently. We saw a gap in the market and we seized it, solving the problem by only employing locals who are familiar with an area’s layout,” says Delivery Ka Speed CEO and founder, Godiragetse Mogajane.

To date the company has created over 200 hyper-local jobs, and its strategy of uplifting the communities it operates in has a knock-on effect to the vendors who use its service to deliver more fast food to more customers, than they were able to reach before.

As part of the launch, Delivery Ka Speed will donate Telkom-sponsored routers with uncapped data, and rechargeable light bulbs, to three NGOs that work in the Kwamhlanga area, so that the community’s children can continue to learn during loadshedding. They will also donate 150 pairs of school shoes via these NGOs.

Delivery Ka Speed is the latest addition to the growing stable of businesses being mentored by venture builder Aions Creative Technology, which is headed by serial entrepreneur Mitchan Adams.

Customers can download the Delivery Ka Speed app from their play store. Merchants and vendors who would like to become Delivery Ka Speed suppliers should download the Delivery Ka Speed Merchant app, also available in IOS and Android play stores. For more information visit deliverykaspeed.com/
