FNB INSURE PARTNERS WITH ONEPLAN INSURANCE TO EXPAND ACCESS TO PRIMARY HEALTH CARE SOLUTIONS

Lack of access to primary healthcare remains a major concern for the average South African and according to Statista only 15.8 % of South Africans have access to medical aid. In seeking to find a solution for this challenge, FNB Insure is announcing a partnership with Oneplan Health Insurance, to extend their cost-effective primary healthcare solution to all FNB customers. The aspiration is to address healthcare access constraints faced by a significant portion of its customers.

Starting from R250pm, the primary healthcare solution provides affordable private health cover for day-to-day health services for customers, which includes cover for doctors’ visits, basic optometry and dentistry, medicine, trauma counselling and Accidental HIV (testing and treatment). Customers get paid before they see the doctor for day-to-day consultations, this is made possible with the FNB eWallet Pro Claims Card and the Oneplan App. In addition, there is accidental cover embedded on the more comprehensive plan options which caters for ambulance services, stabilisation as well as injuries resulting in hospitalisation, and some cover for illness in hospital.

Lee Bromfield, CEO of FNB Insure says, “Access to affordable healthcare remains an ongoing challenge for many South Africans and as a trusted insurance provider and advisor to our customers, this solution aligns with our overarching healthcare ambitions and commitment to offer true help to our customers. Primary healthcare complements the current suite of our healthcare solutions, catering a different audience and client needs. Our current suite of solutions has also allowed us to hone in on our core competencies that are essential for fuller participation in the healthcare sector.”

He adds that, “Alongside Oneplan, this strategic partnership, focuses on driving a common vision of expanding healthcare access for South Africans and will assist us with the implementation of the solution, with FNB assuming the distribution arm overtime.”

Michael Otten, Oneplan Insurance CEO adds, “We’re proud to be partnering with FNB Insure on the rollout of this solution. As a fellow healthcare insurance provider, our business is founded on strong relationships and like-minded partnerships that allows us to drive our primary goal, which is to provide South Africans with affordable and easy access to a wide variety of insurance products that will help them to manage costs that would otherwise deprive them of the necessary healthcare they seek. The Oneplan insurance philosophy remains centered around making today better and embracing change and an ever-evolving industry that requires of us to embrace mutual partnerships that will help us to provide clients with the best possible solutions and outcomes.”

Building onto the successful ventures and rails of our Life and Short-term insurance businesses, there is a desire for a more comprehensive play in the health space, complementing the current extension of demarcated health solutions, FNB Health Cash Plan and Gap Cover.

“Our insurance business was founded with the primary goal of serving customers in their time of need, and we are accomplishing that very same goal by constantly looking for ways to disrupt the traditional insurance market through relevant solutions and partnerships. We’ve trying to democratise access to insurance through FNB’s digital platforms by developing cost-effective solutions, and in the same breath we remain committed to providing healthcare solutions that promote inclusivity and accessibility for our customers,” concluded Bromfield.
