The stage is set for Gauteng School Sport Awards, says the department

The Gauteng Sports, Arts and Recreation department has revealed that the finalists for the 2016/17 Gauteng School Sport Awards will be announced next week Monday, 27 February at the Johannesburg Stadium.
The department further disclosed that those who made the cut will vie for top honours at the main ceremony to be held on Friday, 03 March at Wits University.
The fourth annual awards held under the theme ‘Celebrating Today’s Stars, Tomorrow’s Champions’ will recognize athletes, schools, teams, officials etc for their success in the 2016 school sport calendar.
Finalists will be announced in the following categories:
- Team of the Year
- Primary School of the Year
- Secondary School of the Year
- Learners with Special Educational Needs (LSEN) School of the Year
- Sport Code of the Year
- Primary School Male Athlete of the Year
- Primary School Female Athlete of the Year
- LSEN School Male Athlete of the Year
- LSEN School Female Athlete of the Year
- Secondary School Male Athlete of the Year
- Secondary School Female
- Special Award
- Technical Official of the Year
- Coach of the Year
- Administrator of the Year
