NTSEKI ANNOUNCES BAFANA CHAN SQUAD TO FACE MALAWI

Coach Molefi Ntseki has announced the squad that will represent South Africa in the final round of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers in the coming days.

The Bafana Bafana CHAN team will face Malawi in the first leg on Saturday, 3 May 2025 away from home and then host their COSAFA neighbours in the return match at Loftus Stadium in Tshwane on Sunday, 11 May 2025.

The team will assemble in Johannesburg on Monday morning, 28 April 2025 and remain in camp in the city until Thursday, 1 May 2025 when they depart to Malawi. They will face the Malawians at the Republic Stadium in Lilongwe on 3 May and then return to South Africa on the following day. They will be based in Tshwane until 11 May 2025 when they host the return leg.

SAFA Technical Committee Chairman Jack Maluleke said they have decided to allow Ntseki to continue as coach to ensure continuity after the sterling job he has done to get the team this far.

“The head coach that was appointed, Mr. Molefi Ntseki, will continue with the team as he started with them, and we felt that they’ve done a wonderful job. We can also confirm that he will continue with CHAN until the end,” the SAFA Technical Committee Chairman said.

Ntseki was brought into the fold in February and successfully negotiated a way past Egypt in the previous round. The South Africans beat the Egyptians 4-2 on aggregate after drawing the first leg 1-1 in Bloemfontein and then impressively winning 3-1 at the Suez Canal Stadium, in Ismailia, in the return match.

The winner between South Africa and Malawi will qualify for the CHAN tournament to be jointly hosted in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda in August.
