Mbombela will be teeming with activity this Saturday as the 2025/26 season’s first cup final comes to town in the form of the blockbuster MTN8 clash between Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch.
The sold-out fixture held at Mbombela Stadium has drawn great excitement and is expected to draw a large crowd in and around the stadium precinct.
Ahead of the highly-anticipated encounter, several measures have been taken to ensure smooth traffic flow and a seamless match day experience.
Park and Ride Facility
With gates at Mbombela Stadium opening at 14:00, a Park and Ride option has been facilitated and will begin operating at 13:00 across the following locations;
- Showgrounds
- Höerskool Bergvlam
- Lowveld High School
- Riverside Government Complex
- Fresh Produce Market
Ticket holders can access the service by presenting a valid match ticket to the driver ahead of boarding the bus.
Secure parking is available at no cost across all loading venues, while shuttle buses heading to the stadium will depart once full, or at 15 to 30 minute intervals.
Following the final whistle, the service will resume with the last shuttles expected to depart from the stadium between 21:00 and 21:30.
Road Closures and Parking Options
For those opting to use their own vehicles, early bird parking at the adjoining stadium parking areas is available on a first-come-first-serve basis, while limited general public parking is provided until 15:00. Thereafter, vehicles will be turned away and directed to the nearest Park and Ride.
Motorists are encouraged to follow instructions provided by marshalls in and around the precinct to avoid parking in reserved areas.
Samora Machel Drive will be closed once free parking is full. The closure will be implemented between Graniet Street and the N-4 Mataffin Split with only permit holders allowed in.
The MTN8 final is scheduled to kick off at 18:00 with fans urged to arrive early to secure their seats and enjoy the pre-match entertainment.
