Kaizer Chiefs fullback Ramahlwe Mphahlele heaped praise on his teammates as they fought to edge Chippa United on Saturday to take a share of top place in the Absa Premiership.
The 1-0 victory, with a late winner from George Lebese at the Mbombela Stadium, has Chiefs tied with Cape Town City.
“I think we did well as a team and we fought very hard. Chippa United is not an easy team to pay against. They keep the ball, they frustrate you, you have to press and if you don’t get the ball you have nothing. If you are our approach we are a team that wants to have the ball and now we come up against people who also want to have the ball, so it’s always going to be difficult,” said ther right full back, who won the man of the match award.
“But we knew the longer we stayed in the game and tried to control the game, something has to give. I’m just glad we got the three points.
It was amazing how we fought as a team. We knew something was going to come. The goal of George Lebese summed up everything,” added Mphahlele.
