ICEBOLETHU GROUP SHARES ITS TOP FIVE TIPS WHEN CHOOSING A LIFE OR FUNERAL COVER

They have, in a few weeks, made headlines and received backlash. Icebolethu Founder and CEO of Icebolethu Group Nomfundo Mcoyi-Zondo says putting grieving families’ needs first has been the pillar behind their business despite challenges.

She shared how in many cases, families and those grieving at times go into contracts without fully understanding the details and finer prints. This can affect them in the long run.

With over 120 branches in KwaZulu-Natal Natal with one in the United Kingdom, and currently employs over 1500 staff. Mcoyi says they always aim to give a quality service.

“During times of grief, families want to have a smooth burial. We educate our people about the terms of policies. We do, however, come across challenges such as the previous case, which was highly publicized.”

According to Statistics South Africa, the country faces an estimated 1,300 deaths daily for various reasons. Mcoyi says their values are to always put clients’ needs first.

“With over 15 years in the business of supporting people through their darkest hour, we continue to do so and fulfil our purpose.”

Icebolethu Group shares the top five tips when choosing a life or funeral cover:

1: Understanding the difference between life cover and funeral cover.Funeral cover takes care of the immediate costs of a dignified funeral (coffin, service, etc.). For life cover, this amount should be sufficient to replace your income, settle long-term debts (like a home loan), and cover future expenses.

2: Understand your affordability, so as not to default on payments. Missing installments may affect your claim at times. Choose a policy with monthly premiums that are consistently within your budget.

3: Understanding the terms and conditions carefully to understand what each policy requires. Some do not cover “suicide” or death due to criminal activity.

4: Check how quickly valid claims are paid. What is required to make a payout, for example, death certificates, copies of ids etc …

5: Look for value-added benefits: maybe they offer vehicles, groceries, and catering.
