FROM SOUTH AFRICA TO EVEREST: MRS SOUTH AFRICA 2ND PRINCESS TALITHA OOSTHUIZEN INSPIRES WOMEN WHILE SHINNING A GLOBAL SPOTLIGHT ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND RHINO POACHING

Courage, determination, and the South African flag in hand – Talitha Oosthuizen, 2nd Princess Mrs South Africa, is preparing to take on one of the world’s most iconic journeys: a trek to Mount Everest Base Camp.

Departing South Africa on 25 February 2026, Talitha will become one of only a handful of South African women to undertake this extraordinary challenge. But this journey is about far more than altitude or endurance – it is a mission of inspiration and impact.

Talitha’s Everest Base Camp expedition aims to empower South African women to pursue bold dreams while using a global platform to highlight two urgent crises affecting Africa and the world: human trafficking and rhino poaching.

“This journey isn’t just about reaching Everest Base Camp,” says Talitha. “It’s about showing women that courage can transform obstacles into opportunities – and that we can use our voices and platforms to create meaningful change.”

Travelling on her own, Talitha will carry the South African flag as a symbol of resilience, leadership, and hope. Along the way, she will draw attention to the devastating realities of child trafficking and the ongoing threat to South Africa’s rhino population, reinforcing that South African women can lead advocacy efforts on the world stage.

An accomplished adventurer, Talitha has completed more than 40 hiking trails across South Africa and Namibia and has summited Mount Kilimanjaro.

While Everest Base Camp is one of her most demanding physical challenges to date, she describes this expedition as her most purposeful.

As an entrepreneur, advocate, and Mrs South Africa 2nd Princess, Talitha embodies a modern vision of empowerment – one that blends courage, compassion, and action.  Her journey stands as a powerful reminder that adventure can be a catalyst for awareness, leadership, and social impact.

Talitha Oosthuizen’s Everest Base Camp trek is more than a journey from South Africa to the Himalayas – it is a call to women everywhere to dare boldly, lead courageously, and stand for causes that matter.
