
South African Football Association (SAFA) President Dr Danny Jordaan has congratulated Gianni Infantino after he marked a decade at the helm of global football this week.
Infantino became FIFA President on 26 February 2016 following an Extraordinary FIFA Congress held in Zurich, Switzerland, and Dr Jordaan said several milestones have been achieved in the last ten years.
“We as SAFA would like to congratulate FIFA President Infantino on the 10- year anniversary of his election. He has done extremely well for football and we are happy with what he has done. Football has made great strides in the last ten years and there are lot of milestones that have been achieved under him,” the SAFA President said.
Among the list of achievements that Infantino highlighted this week:
- There is more direct funding via FIFA Forward to FIFA Member Associations
- More development of young talent at FIFA Member Associations
- More capacity building within FIFA Member Association
- More youth national team opportunities for FIFA Member Associations
