Carol Keshy, Acting Director of the Johannesburg Business School Centre for Entrepreneurship

The 2026 Woman of Stature Awards South Africa celebrated the spirit of innovation and resilience through the Woman Entrepreneur of the Year category, recognising women who are building businesses, creating jobs, and driving economic growth across the country.

As one of the most anticipated categories of the evening, it honoured women who have transformed ideas into impactful enterprises, demonstrating courage, adaptability, and a commitment to sustainable business practices.

The Johannesburg Business School Centre for Entrepreneurship, within the University of Johannesburg, played a pivotal role in elevating this category, reflecting its dedication to empowering entrepreneurs and supporting the growth of small and medium enterprises in South Africa.

“Entrepreneurship is a powerful driver of economic transformation and job creation,” said Ms Carol Keshy, Acting Director of the Johannesburg Business School Centre for Entrepreneurship. “The women recognised in this category are not only building successful businesses, but are also creating opportunities and inspiring others to pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions.”

With over 1,000 nominations received this year, the Awards highlighted the growing number of women entering and excelling in the entrepreneurial space across diverse industries.

Charlotte du Plessis, Founder and CEO of the Woman of Stature Awards, said: “Our entrepreneurs are innovators, risk-takers, and changemakers. This category celebrates women who are not only building businesses, but are shaping the future of our economy.”

Finalists were assessed on innovation, business growth, sustainability, and impact, ensuring a rigorous and credible selection process.

As the Awards concluded, the Woman Entrepreneur of the Year category stood as a powerful reminder of the role women play in driving economic progress and creating lasting impact.
