CITY& MILFORD SECURE PSL PROMOTION PLAYOFF BERTHS

With the 2025/26 Motsepe Foundation Championship now wrapped up, Cape Town City and Milford were the biggest winners this weekend as they booked their spots in the PSL Promotion/Relegation Playoffs.

All eyes were on City and Milford heading into Sunday’s action, as the two remaining Playoff positions were up for grabs.

To begin with, City completed their season with a gritty 4-2 win over Leicesterford City at the Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday. The Citizens secured second spot after their final league assignment, led by goals from Jaedin Rhodes (2), Gabriel Amato and Dženan Zajmovic.

Milford managed only a 0-0 draw against Hungry Lions on Sunday, a result enough to secure third place. Hungry Lions were also hoping to creep into the Play-offs but ultimately fell short on home soil, finishing their campaign in fifth, two points adrift of third.

Cape Town City and Milford will now wait for the final day of the Betway Premiership to learn who they will face in the Play-offs as Magesi, Orbit College, Marumo Gallants and Chippa United face danger of finishing in the 15th position of South Africa’s top flight.

Elsewhere, log leaders Kruger United lifted the Motsepe Foundation Championship trophy in front of their home supporters following a 2-2 draw with The Bees at KaNyamazane Stadium on Sunday.

After securing automatic promotion to the PSL, Kruger completed their campaign on 62 points.
