ADIDAS AND LIVERPOOL FC UNVEIL 2026/27 HOME JERSEY

  • A modern tribute to an iconic late-80s classic, reimagined for a new generation
  • The new design draws inspiration from the legendary 1989–91 home jersey, blending heritage aesthetics with a contemporary all-over print
  • The adidas Liverpool FC 2026/27 Home Jersey is available from today via selected adidas retail stores, and adidas.co.za.

Today, adidas and Liverpool FC reveal the new Home Jersey for the 2026/27 season, launching under the campaign “GREATNESS IS TIMELESS.” The kit pays homage to one of the club’s most iconic eras, reinterpreting a design synonymous with success and identity into a bold, modern expression.

Inspired by the classic adidas 1989-91 Liverpool FC home jersey instantly recognisable for its dynamic geometric pattern, and worn during a successful period for the Club, when Kenny Dalglish’s side secured the 1989/90 league title – the new design celebrates a defining period in the club’s history. The deep red base is elevated through a contemporary all-over graphic, directly echoing the visual language of the late-80s original while introducing a sharper, modern execution.

The jersey bridges past and present, combining timeless club DNA with modern performance design. Clean white detailing across the adidas logo, club crest and trims reinforces the classic aesthetic, while the reimagined all-over print channels the energy and attitude of 80s football culture.

As part of the launch, adidas and Liverpool FC introduce a creative concept that merges eras through innovation. Using AI technology, four club legends – Ian Rush, John Barnes, Alan Hansen, and Bruce Grobbelaar – are reimagined as they appeared in 1989, wearing the original 89/91 kit that inspired this release. These legends are paired alongside current players including Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, and Mia Enderby, with striking visuals across both 2D and 3D reinforcing the campaign’s message that greatness transcends generations.

Designed for elite performance, the jersey features lightweight, body-mapped 3D engineered fabrics that enhance fit and freedom of movement. Incorporating adidas’ latest CLIMACOOL+ materials, the jersey wicks sweat faster to keep players drier for longer, while perforated wide 3-stripe tapes and strategically placed mesh zones across the fabric and trims deliver best-in-class breathability and air permeability.

The 2026/27 Home kit is completed with deep red shorts and socks with white detailing, creating a bold, unified on-pitch aesthetic.

The on-field version of the kit is available for R2499, while the fan version is priced at R1599 – both available from selected adidas retail stores, adidas.co.za
