Chippa United players returned to training on Tuesday after a few days off to prepare for Saturday’s crucial Absa Premiership decider against Free State Stars in Bethlehem.
“That is very crucial match,” said coach Dan Malesela, who gave his players time to recover from the exertions of two hours of football in Saturday’s Nedbank Cup semifinal against SuperSport United plus the emotional draw of losing out in the post-match penalty shootout.
“We have time to prepare for that game, we’ve had time to rest by giving the players time off,” he said.
Chippa must avoid defeat to be possibly dragged into the bottom two places and face relegation as the club have won just one of their last 14 Absa Premiership matches.
Malesela said he was pleased to be able to pick an unchanged line-up for the last two matches, even if they carried tired legs at the weekend.
