UNDER 17 WOMEN READY TO WIN

14 December 2017 – Captain of the South African U17 Women’s National Team (Bantwana), Kaylin Jordaan, has urged the fans to come in numbers to support the team in their crucial first round second leg 2018 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Botswana on Saturday, 16 December 2017.

The match will be played at the Dobsonville Stadium, with a 15h00 kickoff.

Jordaan, who also plays for the South African U20 Women’s National Team, says the support of the fans is very crucial.

“The girls are preapre for Botswana again and we going to give our best to make sure we come out victorious once more and proceed to the next round. I have a strong feeling we are going to win,” said Jordaan.

“The first leg was very nerve-wrecking and there was a lot of anxiety for most of the players as they were playing their first international match, and more so, away from home – but in the end it all worked for us. Now that we are back in camp again, they all look relaxed as they have managed to get that hurdle out of the way.”

The South Africans won 5-2 in the first leg, with goals coming from Karabo Dlamini, Thambolinye Mzoneli, Miche Minnies, Jessica Wade as well as an own goal by Tshegofatso Mosotho from Botswana.

“Seeing how Botswana plays, the girls are not afraid anymore, and feel they can get another good win. But we still have to work hard because we know they managed to come from behind against Zambia in the last round, so we have to be extra careful and not make silly mistakes that will cost us dearly in the end,” added Jordaan.

“I would like to urge the fans to come watch us because we are on the verge of making history and by them supporting us it will mean so much, and will be a morale booster to the entire team.”

Entry to the match is free.

The 2018 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup tournament will be played in Uruguay.

It will run from 20 November to 13 December, with 16 countries participating in the competition – three of them from the African continent.
