Grassroots Exchange Workshop

14 November 2018–The South African Football Association (SAFA) is hosting a FIFA Grassroots Exchange workshop which will run from 15 – 17 November 2018 in Johannesburg.

The workshop will see 11 representatives from five COSAFA countries (Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique Swaziland and Zimbabwe), learning and discussing how to make grassroots football more effective.

The workshop will also consist of, among many other topics of discussion, CAF and FIFA Grassroots Presentations, where issues surrounding football development would be discussed at length.

SAFA’s Technical Director Neil Tovey, who will be in attendance, stated that this was a perfect opportunity to learn from other football Associations.

“Grassroots football has always been an integral part of our football, that is why we are always having coaching courses to make sure that our people, from grassroots level are provided with the necessary opportunities to work on their coaching badges.

“This workshop will provide us with an opportunity to learn more on what we can improve as an Association. And that is what we are all about,” Tovey added. “We are always looking for opportunities improve and make our football better.”

Tovey also stated that investing time and effort in working on improving the country’s football from a grassroots level, will have a positive effect in the long run.
