SuperSport United booked their spot in the semifinals of the 2019 MTN8 with a thumping 3-0 win over Bidvest Wits at Bidvest Stadium in Braamfontein on Sunday afternoon.

Bradley Grobler and Thamsanqa Gabuza (two) found the back of the net for the visitors who join Polokwane City, Highlands Park and Mamelodi Sundowns in the final four.

The Clever Boys conjured the first noteworthy chance of the game, but having burst through on goal, Carl Lark took too long to shoot, allowing Siyabonga Nhlapo time to race back and duly deny the forward with a superb last-ditch tackle.

SuperSport finally forced Brandon Petersen into action in the 53rd minute as Onismor Bhasera fired a rasping effort on goal from an acute angle, but the goalkeeper was up to the task; getting down well to thwart the danger.

Matsatsantsa opened the scoring through Grobler three minutes later. Teboho Mokoena’s hopeful effort deflected off Thulani Hlatshwayo and into the path of Grobler who fired home for his third goal in the space of five days.

SuperSport doubled their lead in the 64th minute as Gabuza opened his account for his new club. Nhlapo picked out the towering forward with a pin-point cross and the former Orlando Pirates man made no mistake; nodding home past Petersen for his maiden goal in blue.

Gabuza completed his brace in the 88th minute. After Zitha Macheke fouled Kudakwashe Mahachi inside the area, the forward stepped up to the spot before sending Petersen the wrong way to complete a perfect week for the Tshwane club who beat Orlando Pirates by the same scoreline in Mbombela on Wednesday.
