Three Gauteng based PSL teams Highlands Park, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates are expected to face off with their respective opponents in their home grounds this weeekend following a lip smacking Telkom Knockout draw conducted last Wednesday.
Wits University will lock horns with Maritzburg United in KZN , while Kaizer Chiefs must travel to Cape Town City in what is expected to be an arduous encounter given the recent form displayed by Benny McCarthy’s boys in the PSL run and their 2-1 loss recently inflicted by Amakhosi.
Chiefs will have to win this one in order to give their Chairman a memorable gift after he celebrated his 75th birthday yesterday.
Defending Champions, Baroka were also drawn against the in-form Supersport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
After the draw, Baroka Coach,Wedson Nyirenda told this publication on the sidelines he was not perturbed by their opponent.
“Its not going to be easy for us. But they are a beatable side. We can repeat last year’s feat again. We beat them last year. Our fans must expect to see good football at display.”
Baroka Captain, Mduduzi Mdantsane, echoed the same sentiment.
“We are ready for any team. We are not scared of any team. Last year we had the toughest fixture but emerged champions however we can’t relax. Any team is beatable.”
Clayton Daniels, Supersport Captain argued, his team was determined to clinch the cup after winning the MTN 8 final.
“They are former champions and a difficult team to play. Our confidence has grown after winning the recent cup.”
