LETLOTLO RETURNS TO FOOTBALL AT THE DISCOVERY WALTER SISULU SOCCER CHALLENGE

For many professional footballers, they dread the time when they are clubless and Emmanuel Letlotlo is no exception.

However, the field remains their comfort zone and even playing at amateur level, there’s some feeling of content.

The former Kaizer Chiefs striker reckons that the Discovery Walter Sisulu Soccer Challenge is a happy ground, even as he goes through the tough times battling to find a team.

“I think this tournament is a great thing for these teams in the neighbourhood for all the boys who want to do it professionally,” says Letlotlo, who turns out for Pimville United F.C at the ongoing tournament at Nike Football Training Centre in Klipspruit, Soweto.

“A lot of great PSL players come from these teams and go on to be great. It shows you that this tournament does work.”

Without a team, Letlotlo has to find ways to stay in tip-top condition, in case he’s called for an assessment at one of the topflight teams.

The 24-year-old was on the verge of signing for Bloemfontein Celtic some weeks ago, but the two parties couldn’t agree terms.

More recently, Letlotlo has been linked with Orlando Pirates, but he’s not interested in talking about rumours.

Letlotlo, instead, plans on getting match fit through continuous participation in the tournament which runs until December 29.

“For me I am doing it mainly because I need the fitness and help the team that I’m playing for …maybe we can win that prize money (of R100 000) in the end,” he says.

Letlotlo who played the full game against Trabzonspor FC on Friday, hopes to improve going forward admitting that he might not have had one of his best performances on the day but hopes to improve moving forward.

“I just arrived and playing my first game (on Friday) was tough. I don’t think I performed that great but I will continue to push throughout the tournament,” he adds.
