Today, adidas re-awakens one of football’s most beloved boots – the F50. The ‘Advancement Pack’, unleashes three new iterations of the iconic boot, all engineered for game-changing speed.
The F50 made its debut 20 years ago, going on to feature in some of the game’s most exhilarating moments, on the feet of its most legendary players After a 9-year hiatus, F50 returns with enhanced technology built to help todays athletes use their speed to break rigid patterns of play and experience the thrill of playing football on their own terms.
All three models within the pack – the F50 Elite Laced, F50 Elite Laceless and F50 Mid W Elite – feature Sprintframe 360, a specifically designed soleplate built to provide optimised stability and traction. The heel counter on the soleplate works harmoniously with a stud configuration of rounded and bladed studs for foot steadiness at push-off – all working in tandem to help facilitate multidirectional speed and acceleration.
Also featuring across the three silhouettes is a Fibertouch Upper – an engineered synthetic, lightweight material – that offers a moulded fit to provide support at high speeds, where it is needed most. This is complemented by Sprintweb technology – a 3D texture – applied to the foremost ball contact areas designed for enhanced control when dribbling quickly.
The laced version features a compression-fit tunnel tongue – an adaptable tongue configuration featuring strategically placed reinforcements to provide additional stability for the foot and create an enhanced fit and lockdown in the forefoot and midfoot. While the laceless model incorporates a collar made from Primeknit material which molds to the shape of the wearer’s foot, for maximum comfort.
The F50 Mid W Elite differs with the implementation of features optimised for a woman’s foot. The ultra-soft Primeknit Midcut Collar offers an adaptive fit around the ankle for stability and comfort. Additionally, using athlete feedback garnered throughout the development process of the F50, a supplementary sock liner has been applied to the upper region of the silhouette to further stabilise foot movement within the boot by providing optimal arch support – with the two combining to deliver a modified fit for women footballers of all levels.
Sam Handy, SVP of Product and Design at adidas said: “We are proud to finally reveal what’s under the hood of this speed machine. We’re reviving a franchise beloved by so many at a time when the game is faster than ever before, so we’ve meticulously studied player movement at pace to innovate the F50 to provide that extra inch players need. Whether it’s at the point of acceleration, changing direction or while in full flight on the ball, the new F50 is engineered to help players everywhere unlock game-breaking speed and play the game on their own terms. With two major international tournaments kicking off this month, it’s the perfect time to enter this exciting new era for the F50.”
The predominantly white silhouette represents the lightweight nature of the boot, with solar red and lucid blue detailing found on the medial and lateral sides that create a flash-like effect when players speed by.
The advancement pack was seen on pitch for the first time during the men’s UEFA Champions LeagueTM Final and will be worn by some of the best players in the world such as Lionel Messi, Rafael Leão, Son Heung-min, Linda Caicedo, Trinity Rodman, Lamine Yamal and Florian Wirtz.
