SA u20 continue with WC preparations

The Burger King-sponsored South African u20 Men’s National U20 Men’s team (Amajita) will hold their first training session this afternoon (Thursday, 20 April 2017) at Eldorado Park as they continue with preparations for the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup.

Team Manager Levy Ramajoe has his hands full trying to ensure that all the players report for camp by the weekend before the squad travels to the Netherlands for their first phase of preparations.

“We currently have 22 players in camp and are awaiting the overseas-based contingent. Supersport United, Bidvest Wits and Platinum Stars have released the players we requested and we are happy that training will go ahead as scheduled today,” said Ramajoe.

“We are travelling to the Netherlands on Tuesday, 25 April 2017 where we will play three practice matches before returning to South Africa on Wednesday, 3 May 2017 to continue with our World Cup preparations.”

Amajita will face Feyenoord on Friday, 28 April 2017, followed by Ajax Amsterdam on Sunday, 30 April 2017. Their last practice match will be against PEC Zwolle on Tuesday, 2 May 2017.
