After more than two decades away from the pageant stage, 48-year-old Thabile Mabele is stepping back into the spotlight with renewed confidence and purpose. Now a semi-finalist for Mrs Township South Africa (MTSA), she is showing that it’s never too late to pursue a dream.
Her last pageant experience dates back to her early 20s while studying at the University of Zululand. Today, she balances her professional role as an Employment Equity and Diversity Management Consultant with her passion for advocacy, empowerment, and community upliftment.
“For me, pageantry goes far beyond glamour,” she says. “MTSA is about identity, purpose, and stepping boldly into who you are. I wanted to celebrate my womanhood and inspire others to chase their dreams — no matter their age.”
Since being sashed as a semi-finalist in September, Mabele has dedicated herself to charity work and public engagements, particularly championing anti-harassment initiatives and safer community spaces. “How we treat one another matters. No one should feel unsafe,” she adds.
She describes her sash as a symbol of honour and responsibility. “It represents recognition, sisterhood, and the privilege of serving as a township ambassador.”
Her journey is also inspired by her daughter, who is involved in pageantry. “Mrs Township is about reclaiming dignity and advancing transformation. That spoke to me deeply and encouraged me to return to my passion.”
With finalists to be announced on 6 December 2025 and the grand finale set for 2026, Mabele is embracing the moment — and aiming for the title.
Her message to women everywhere: “Never let life’s demands bury your dreams.”
