Bafana Bafana players

20 March 2018 – Bafana Bafana defender, Ramahlwe Mphahlele has called upon the senior players of the national team to play an important role of mentoring the younger players that have been called up into the national team.

A new generation of Bafana Bafana stars is on the rise as players such as Siphesihle Ndlovu, Aubrey Modiba, Teboho Mokoena and Reeve Frosler are set to play an even bigger role in Stuart Baxter’s role moving forward starting with this week’s four nation’s tournament taking place in Zambia.

Bafana Bafana will be using the four nations tournament to prepare for the upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers where they started off on a good note with a 2-0 away victory to Nigeria.

Addressing members of the media on Monday, 19 March, “Rama” as the Kaizer Chiefs defender is affectionately known called upon his senior teammates to play the important role of sharing experience and advise to the youngsters in Zambia.

“We have a very important role that we are playing and we need to ensure that we do it to our outmost best. These boys are the future national team and it is vitally important that we share our knowledge and experience with them. They may be playing on a regular basis at club level but playing for your nation comes with a lot of pressure and we need to be there for them at all times” said Mphahlele.

Bafana Bafana had a training session at the Orlando Stadium yesterday and depart for Zambia this morning (Tuesday) at 10h20 to arrive in Ndola at 12h35.

The team will have a light training session later in the afternoon where coach Baxter will most likely identify his starting line-up for the opening match against Angola on Wednesday, 21 March at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium at 15h00.
