BANYANA BA STYLE READY TO DEFEND THEIR CAF TITLE IN MOROCCO

Fresh off sealing their fifth Hollywoodbets Super League title, Sundowns Ladies have turned their attention to this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League. The prestigious Continental tournament is set to take place in Morocco from 9 to 23 November.

Banyana Ba Style enters this year’s competition as two-time Champions and is determined to extend its dominance on the Continent by claiming a third title in four years. As the defending champions, the Brazilians earned automatic qualification to the finals in Morocco, and their focus is now on retaining the title they won last year.

Lerato Kgasago expressed what it means to compete in this year’s tournament, having already secured the league title.

“It is good to know that we have completed the mission at home; as such, we can fully focus on the CAF competition. As always, we will compete against other teams who want to etch their names into the history books, but we are motivated and prepared for this edition and to defend the title.”

The midfielder also highlighted the importance of maintaining a positive mindset despite the high expectations of being defending champions, saying, “To feel this type of pressure means we are privileged to be in a position where the expectations are so high. It reflects the hard work we have put in and the level we have reached. Despite the pressure, our mindset remains unchanged, and we are entering this tournament with one goal: to take the top honours.”

Khunjulwa Mali described how winning the Hollywoodbets Super League has given the team a renewed sense of purpose and drive. “We feel very refreshed and energised after our league victory. It has given us the confidence to believe in ourselves and our abilities. We have learned from the challenges we faced in the league, and we are ready to take that winning energy with us as we step onto the Continental stage.”

Mali further spoke on the need to stay humble despite their incredible CAF success.

“We have worked hard to get to this point, but we know the journey is far from over. It is important to stay grounded and continue putting in the effort. Every competition we play in requires the same level of commitment and discipline. We have enjoyed Continental success, but we cannot afford to become complacent. We must remain focused on our next objective, which is defending our title.”

Sundowns Ladies are drawn in Group B alongside Egypt’s Tutankhamun FC, Ethiopia’s CBE FC, and Nigeria’s Edo Queens—all tournament debutants. The Brazilians face Tutankhamun in their opening game on Sunday before facing CBE and concluding the group stage against Edo Queens.
