African champions Banyana Banyana arrived in Aalbourgh, Denmark, on Tuesday night as they embark on the tour of Europe in preparation for next year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The Sasol-sponsored South African Senior Women’s National Team will faces the Danes in an away international friendly match on Friday, 25 October 2024. The match will be played at Aalborgh Stadium at 6pm. The visitors will be looking to test their physical strength and match tempo against their very strong hosts.
Coach Dr Desiree Ellis’ charges’ last two friendly matches against Senegal also tested their physical prowess. Banyana Banyana arrived in Aalborg with 17 players, while the Shamase twins (Thulelihle and Sphumelele) joined the team on arrival in Denmark.
The other 4 International based players Thembi Kgatlana, Hildah Magaia, Linda Motlhalo and Sinoxolo were unable to join the team in Denmark due to visa requirements pertaining to their residency permits in the countries they are currently playing in, and will therefore join Banyana Banyana in Coventry, UK on 26 October 2024.
