BAROKA, HIGHLANDS SHARE SPOILS
Highlands Park conceded an injury time goal to draw 1-1 with Baroka FC in an Absa Premiership match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night.
The first half started positively with Baroka on the attack with Richard Matloga finding space inside Highlands’ box, but he fired over from roughly 12-yards out.
The next shot on goal only came on the half hour mark when some sloppy defending by Baroka allowed Petrus Ngebo to get on the end of a cross from Mothobi Mvala, but the Highlands man also blazed his effort over from close range.
The first half ended 0-0.
The second half produced much more in terms of goal mouth action and Baroka nearly took the lead in the 60th minute when Richard Matloga found himself one-on-one with Tapuwa Kapini, but the Highlands goalkeeper thwarted him.
Highlands then took the lead in the 75th minute when substitute Thabo Motlafi found the back of the net with a deadly shot from the edge of the box, 1-0.
The visiting side tried to defend their lead after that and ‘parked the bus’ in defence, but it was at their own detriment when Baroka found the equaliser in the 90th minute thanks to a goal from Ranga Chivaviro, 1-1.
