In a drive to invest and re-enact community toilets and keep Mzansi women safer, One of South Africa’s Top Toilet Hygiene brands, Harpic has shown that it cares about uplifting communities.
This was evident when this giant company donated several toilets to Klipfontein community during the recent commemoration of International Day of Action for Women’s Health.
This May 28 day is annually observed across the globe since 1987 and aims to address women safety and factors that prevent women and girls from enjoying healthy lives.
Elated Jozi’s Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Health and Social Development, Ashley Sauls attended the handing over of several toilets sponsored by Harpic.
“We were fortunate to witness the work done by Harpic and the community with our city. We truly appreciate public-private partnerships like these.
“We commend The Harpic Hygiene for her project. It has been developed based on deep insights, a strong desire to make a difference in communities and to set an example of business as a force for good, playing a part in improving lives in our country,” she said.
The MMC also hinted, City recognises the impact that a project of this nature has on women in so many ways.
“Firstly, on hygiene – helping women prevent infections that can arise from poor facilities. This often comes at a cost to families as a whole and also to healthcare facilities. So, the preventative impact of this facility is potentially enormous.
“It also has an impact on safety, with the various interventions Harpic has put in place within the facility, to ensure women can more safely access the toilets.
“Finally, but most importantly, is the impact on dignity. Clean facilities make people feel better. Having a positive experience of something so many people take for granted every day actually gives people hope within our communities and a more pleasant way to get through their day. A facility like this is a reminder of generosity and care that exists.
“I would like to thank each and every person that has been involved in this project and give a special thank you to the Harpic team at Reckitt. We look forward to rolling out more of these facilities throughout the greater Johannesburg,” she argued.
