BOSMONT LIBRARY TAKES CODING TO GR HARRIS PRIMARY

Bosmont Library hosted a fun and educational coding workshop at GR Harris Primary School on 22 May 2025.

The session used a board game called Rangers, developed by Tangible Africa. This unique game warns pupils about the crime of rhino poaching while introducing them to basic coding and problem-solving skills.

The pupils were excited and eager to learn. Working in teams, they showed great focus, teamwork, and curiosity. It was inspiring to see how quickly they picked up coding concepts and used them to solve the challenges in the game.

Though there was only one winning team, every participant left the workshop with new skills and greater confidence in using technology.

One of the pupils, Nosipho Mpande, shared his thoughts about the experience: “I really enjoyed the game and learning to code. It was fun and made me think a lot.”

This successful workshop was made possible through the efforts of Bosmont Library, the dedicated teachers of GR Harris Primary, and the Office of eLearning at the City of Johannesburg.
