Komphela hails Chiefs’ progress

Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela hailed another three point haul for his club as they extended their unbeaten record to 13 games and moved up to second place in the Absa Premiership standings after beating Bloemfontein Celtic 2-0 away on Wednesday.

“I thought there was good energy in the match, looking at chances in both halves. We took chances in both halves and, from a defensive perspective, I thought we defended the box very well. There were very few box entries from Bloemfontein Celtic,” he told reporters after the match at the Molemela Stadium.

“We also dealt very well with their attempts to put balls behind our defence using their wing backs. There was a stage in the second half, when we were already leading 2-0, that is was obvious that the opponent would throw everything at us and I felt there we could have done better by managing the game by keeping the ball and playing.

“The field as well did not make it easy for us to play. It was a bit bouncy, a bit greasy. It wasn’t as smooth as one would have loved to have seen.

“But we are delighted with the victory,” he added as Chiefs advanced to just two points behind leaders Bidvest Wits
