CHIPPA THUMP LEOPARDS, PUSH THEM INTO RELEGATION ZONE

Chippa United beat 10-man Black Leopards 3-0 in a 2020-21 DStv Premiership at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday.

Goals from Andile Mbenyane, Maloisane Mokhele and Kurt Lentjies spearheaded the Chilli Boys to all three points and up to 10th place on the league standings. Leopards fell down to 15th following a second defeat this week as pressure mounts on head coach Dylan Kerr.

Chippa opened the scoring through Mbenyane in the 20th minute. Rejuvenated since Dan Malesela’s return, the powerful forward directed a precise left-footed finish past Jonas Mendes to get the visitors off to the perfect start.

The Chilli Boys doubled their lead two minutes before the halftime break as Maloisane Mokhele found the back of the net.

Lidoda Duvha’s day went from bad to worse as captain Edwin Gyimah received his marching orders five minutes after the interval.

Chippa put the game beyond any reasonable doubt in the 79th minute as Lentjies rose off the bench to score for the second time in as many matches to seal a comfortable win for Eastern Cape club.
