CITY OF GOLD TO HOST THE ANNUAL G20 LEADERS’ SUMMIT

Gauteng is set to buzz with economic activity as it prepares to host the annual G20 Leaders’ Summit, which will take place from 18 to 19 November 2025.

The summit will bring together leaders from 19 member countries and representatives from the African Union and the European Union.

The Gauteng Provincial Government has expressed excitement over the announcement made by the Interministerial Committee responsible for hosting the G20 Summit.

Premier Panyaza Lesufi has welcomed the decision, stating that the 7th Administration aims to make Gauteng a destination of choice. Gauteng Province will again showcase its world-class venues and infrastructure for meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions, and events.

“Gauteng’s airports and hotels capacity was major in being selected as the host province. The province has three airports, OR Tambo International, Lanseria International and Waterkloof Air Force Base airports.

“Gauteng is known as the gateway to Africa’s travel and business experiences. Our province has an impressive track record of delivering exceptionally unique experiences for business and leisure visitors.

“It, therefore, has become a perfect backdrop for international meetings’ organisers looking to take advantage of the impressive world-class venues and infrastructure for hosting meetings, conferences, exhibitions, and events,” said Premier Lesufi

He alluded to the unique opportunity that South Africa’s Presidency of the G20 will present to place Africa’s developmental priorities at the top of the agenda and advocate for the economies of the Global South.

This he added, will enable South Africa to build on the efforts and successes of the Indonesian, Indian, and Brazilian G20 Presidencies.

The G20 summit aims to advance efforts for a reinvigorated and strengthened multilateral system, United Nations Charter, and international law, with institutions and reformed governance that represents effective, transparent, and accountable governance.

“We committed and pleaded that our provincial growth and development.

Gauteng Provincial Government is committed to Growing Gauteng Together (GGT 2030), rebuilding Gauteng’s economic demands, and diverging from traditional provincial economic growth and development models.”
