CITY OF JOHANNESBURG’S REGION G HEALTH DEPARTMENT HOSTS SUCCESSFUL MEN’S DAY CELEBRATION

Johannesburg, South Africa – As part of Men’s Mental Health Month, the City of Johannesburg’s Region G Health Department held a Men’s Day celebration to support and promote the well-being of male health workers. The event aimed to address the often-overlooked issue of men’s mental health and provide a platform for discussion and awareness.

The celebration, which took place on 25 June 2025, brought together healthcare professionals and community members to raise awareness about the importance of men’s mental health.

“Men’s health is often ignored, it’s nice to see that people care about us,” said Grant Dube, a healthcare worker from Region G. “This event is a great initiative, and I’m grateful to be a part of it.”

The Men’s Day celebration is part of a broader effort to promote men’s mental health and reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness. Men who experience mental health issues are often prone to substance abuse, aggression, and suicide, making it essential to address these issues and provide support.

“We are committed to supporting the mental health and well-being of our healthcare workers, particularly men, who often face unique challenges in their roles,” said Nthatisi Modingoane, the City spokesperson. “This event is a step in the right direction, and we look forward to continuing our efforts to promote men’s mental health in the future.”
