COACH RULANI REACTS TO THE 2-2 DRAW AGAINST MOROKA SWALLOWS

After registering their fifth draw of the season against Moroka Swallows on Monday evening, the Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Rulani Mokwena reviewed the clash, confidently stating that his side did enough to win the game, regardless of the mistakes they made that costed them a victory.

“I thought we played well. We made a few mistakes but I really thought we played well. I thought in the first half we were good but we could have scored more. I think second half we started a little bit edgy. They commit one or two more into their press and then we struggle but we come out a little bit better after ten minutes or so,” he said.

“I am very patient with the players because they are very patient with me. When they make mistakes, I will support and protect them. We need to keep in mind that they are humans too. Like I said, today I was happy with their performance. We created enough opportunities to score but maybe we have to learn the hard way,” coach Rulani continued.

Shortly after scoring the opening goal, Teboho Mokoena had to be replaced following a slight discomfort on his leg. At his post-match press conference, the coach was asked for Mokoena’s injury update, but he stated that the midfield maestro is fine.

“He just felt a small tweak and I’m very proud of him because I always say to them, once you feel something small, you have to go out and not take risks. He scored a good goal and he could have celebrated and continued to play but he was professional to say something is wrong,”

In closing, the Downs head coach highlighted the importance of not giving up. He mentioned that the team is playing for the supporters and the Club as a whole. He made a vow to continue working hard to get desired results and keeping the supporters happy.

“We have to continue representing this Club the best way we can in every single game. We have to represent the supporters and try to make them happy as much as we possibly can. We sacrifice for them. We have to man up and do the best that we can,” he concluded.

Bafana Ba Style will now shift  their focus back to continental duties as they travel to Tunisia for the first leg of the CAF Champions League semifinals against ES Tunis. The fixture will take place on Saturday evening at 21H00.
