Coaching Licence

1 November 2018 — The South African Football Association  (SAFA) will host a D Licence coaching course in Margate, KwaZulu-Natal from today 1 – 5 November 2018.

Wakhowakhe Mfeka of SAFA Ugu said the purpose of the coaching course is to help empower mostly women within the Region with the necessary coaching skills.

Mfeka said empowering women in the country with the necessary coaching skills at grassroots level was one way towards improving the standard of women’s football within the country. This, said Mfeka, was part of SAFA’s Vision 2022 blueprint.

“We have a whole lot of female coaches who are working with our up and coming players at amateur level and we need this coaching course in order to improve the game generally,” Mfeka said.

“Most of them are passionate about the game but lack the coaching knowhow, that is why we have decided to open this door for them most specifically. As it stands, we have a total of 15 female aspiring professional coaches who are expected to show up on Thursday (1 November 2018) morning. We are happy with that reponse and we cannot wait to get started.”

Mfeka added: “These group of aspiring female coaches will also have a practical session on the final day of the course. This is where they will be assessed on whether they were able to grasp what was taught in class. They will be working with a total of approximately 100 young and upcoming players. We want them to go back home well equipped.”
