CSA congratulates KZNCU Coastal on winning Sunfoil Cup
CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA (CSA) has congratulated the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union on the success of its coastal squad in winning the Sunfoil Cup Provincial three-day competition. They clinched the award when they beat Namibia in the final by a comprehensive innings and 25 runs at Kingsmead over the weekend.
“Congratulations to KZN Coastal on this outstanding achievement,” commented CSA Acting Chief Executive Thabang Moroe. “Their achievement in beating Namibia, who have been doing well in various ICC tournaments, inside two of the four days allocated for the final is almost without parallel in our domestic cricket.
“They were the only side to win six of their 10 pool matches and this qualified them for the home venue advantage for the final.
“Three of their bowlers – Calvin Savage, Zakariya Paruk and Senuran Muthusamy – finished in the top five of the overall averages while Keith Dudgeon and Smangaliso Nhlebela were joint third leading wicket-takers with 35 dismissals each.
“Savage, Dudgeon and Muthusamy all achieved five-wicket hauls in the final while Michael Erlank and Mishkal Ramsaroop achieved the highest first wicket stand of the season with their partnership of 213 in the final which included a century by Erlank,” concluded Mr. Moroe.
