Following their midweek victory in the Betway Premiership, Mamelodi Sundowns have shifted their focus to the CAF Champions League, where they are set to host Al Hilal on Friday night at Loftus Versfeld.
In their last CAFCL fixture of 2025, the Brazilians recorded a goalless draw where they clashed with MC Alger on the road. The Al Hilal test presents them with an opportunity to record a win in their backyard before hitting the road.
As Masandawana prepare for a mouthwatering clash, coach Miguel Cardoso looks ahead to the game.
“We are glad to be back in the Champions League, and we are in a good position on the table. Obviously, Al Hilal is a good team and has a team of good record. We have, however, prepared well for this game. We know our responsibility to ensure we get a positive result.”
While admitting it will be a titanic tussle of a clash, coach Miguel stated their Al Hilalcounterparts should anticipate a different Mamelodi Sundowns.
“We expect them to be at the level they’ve shown in the competition. They had a wonderful game against MC Alger. They were very competitive, but obviously, MamelodiSundowns are not MC Alger,” coach Miguel said.
“The way we play is very different, so we expect a different game. We know what we have and what we are capable of doing. We know our responsibilities. Most importantly, we understand the pressure and the importance of what we have to do in this competition, as you may imagine,” he continued.
Mamelodi Sundowns will clash with Al Hilal on Friday night at Loftus Versfeld. Kick-off has been scheduled for 20H00, live on SuperSport TV and SABC Sports.
