In the current economy, many South Africans are finding it hard to make their money stretch every month. That’s why banking services provider, EasyPay Everywhere works hard to keep its banking fees low and make it easy, safe and cost-effective for grant recipients to manage their money.
Financial inclusion means access to a wider range of financial services, without the high fees
“Every cent counts for the people we serve,” says Tshidi Russon-Sithebe, Head of Retail Banking Propositions at EasyPay Everywhere. “So, we make sure customers spend as little of their money as possible on banking fees, but still have access to all the solutions and services they need to manage their money well.”
From 1 July 2025, EasyPay Everywhere banking services updated some of its fees, but Russon-Sithebe explains that these updates are based on what the banking services provider knows its customers need from their bank account, and what they can afford to pay for those services.
Committed to making banking accessible, with no increase in monthly account fees, 6 years in a row
As part of the update, the low account fee will stay the same at just R7.50 per month. This fee hasn’t gone up for the last six years.
Also, customers can keep on withdrawing cash at any ATM (EasyPay or other banks), with the same low cost of R10 plus 1% of the amount taken out. Withdrawing cash at the till in a shop is still the cheapest way to get money because it costs a low set amount of only R2.50 no matter how much you withdraw. Russon-Sithebe says “We’re on a mission to help customers transact more digitally. Reminding them that swiping is safer than cash, and it’s free to swipe your EasyPay Everywhere card at tills, for any amount. It’s also cheaper to do mobile banking rather than travelling out to a branch. We’re giving our customers options to help make things easier”.
Many other EasyPay Everywhere banking services will also stay free, so customers can save even more money:
- Buying airtime at the till has no extra fees.
- Changing your card PIN at an ATM is free.
- Checking your balance on your phone (using USSD) is free.
EasyPay Everywhere customers can buy airtime, data, electricity and water, or pay for DStv on their phones, and pay very low fees – just 50c for airtime or data, R1.00 for electricity and water, and R2.00 for DStv.
“We are happy to see that more customers are using their EasyPay Everywhere cards and digital banking options. This is a safer way to do transactions than carrying cash, and it often costs less,” says Russon-Sithebe. “We will keep working to give our customers affordable banking that helps them make the most of their money.”
