4 September 2019 – The second round of the SAFA National Women’s League gets underway this coming weekend as the inaugural edition of the highly anticipated league continues. All roads lead to University of Johannesburg’s Soweto campus where the cream of the crop of South African women footballers will compete.
The opening match will see Coal City Wizards taking on First Touch Academy in a 10h00 fixture which will be followed by another mouth-watering tie between the in-form Tshwane University of Technology and Thunderbirds Ladies at 12h00.
Thunderbirds will be hoping to redeem themselves following their 4-1 loss to Golden Ladies in the opening fixture while TUT will be hoping to carry on from where they left off with their 4-2 win over First Touch Academy.
The last fixture of the day, which will be shown live on SABC will see Durban Ladies face off against Bloemfontein Celtics at 15h00.
The action continues on Sunday, 8 September when University of Western Cape kicks things off with a fixture against the high in confidence Golden Ladies.
Tsunami Queens face Richmond Ladies in the midday fixture at 12h00 before hosts, University of Johannesburg face the ruthless Mamelodi Sundowns who thrashed Richmond Ladies 7-0 in the opening round.
