HURRY UP!!! KOTA FESTIVAL 2025 IS HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND

Spring has sprung and family entertainment is galore in every corner of Mzansi. But most ideal and notable, extraordinary and famous event you cannot avoid to miss is South Africa’s most loved gastronomic food related celebrations, Blue Ribbon Kota Festival.  

In case you are still in slumberland this most favoured and popular 8th edition celebrations is happening this weekend Saturday and Sunday at a new venue, Dobsonville Rugby Grounds (next to Dobsonville  Stadium  Soweto)

During the build up launch at the Soweto Theatre  organisers revealed new and old partners and promised a five star event.

Soweto Kota Festival founder Sidwell Tshingilane told a packed audience this annual event was growing in leaps and bounds every year hence they have opted for a new bigger venue in Dobsonville.

“This much-anticipated event continues to celebrate South Africa’s rich and diverse street food culture, shining a spotlight on the Kota—a proudly South African culinary icon rooted in township life. With each passing year, the festival grows in flavour and flair, and the 2025 edition promises to be the biggest and boldest yet.

“The Soweto Kota Festival is more than just a food event—it’s a celebration of township creativity, unity, and local enterprise.

 “This year, we’re bringing even more excitement for families, music lovers, foodies, and culture seekers,” said Tshingilane.

• Live performances by top South African musicians and DJs
