The Intercape group of companies is all set for the coming festive season as it formally launched its Big Sky Intercity and Tourliner offering, alongside the unveiling of Intercape’s latest additions to its fleet of luxury intercity coaches.
Intercape introduced its Big Sky Intercity and Tourliner offering at a launch event in Sandton last Thursday.
Big Sky Coaches, a subsidiary of Intercape, runs an intercity service called Big Sky Intercity which operates throughout South Africa.
Chief Commercial Officer Shaun Smeda said Big Sky Intercity “extends our significant operations and footprint and enables us to bring more top-class commuting services to more communities across the country”.
Big Sky Intercity has a fleet of 30 luxury coaches and operate between over 150 destinations across South Africa, including the major urban centres of Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town.
Intercape, which operates over 230 coaches from 36 sales offices on 150 routes across southern Africa, also used the event to introduce new additions to its extensive fleet of luxury coaches.
Intercape CEO Johann Ferreira said the company had added 46 brand new coaches to its fleet which would further increase the company’s reach and ability to service the commuting public.
The Intercape fleet consists of:
Sleepliner
Intercape’s Sleepliner fleet consists of top-of-the-range, imported coaches providing comfort, performance, safety and reliability.
The Sleepliner range of coaches boast unique 150° degrees reclining seats, allowing passengers to sleep their way to their destination in complete comfort. The Sleepliner service offers passengers premium class luxury at affordable prices on all major routes.
Mainliner
The Mainliner fleet is the mainstay of Intercape’s service, seamlessly covering a vast network of cities and major towns throughout Southern Africa.
Mainliner ensures a smooth, comfortable and safe travelling experience day and night for millions of passengers each year.
Budgetliner
This is Intercape’s semi-luxury option, bringing affordable coach travel within reach of everyone. Budgetliner has all the same features as the Mainliner coaches, apart from onboard ablution facilities.
Ferreira said the addition of Big Sky Intercity alongside Intercape and Tourliner luxury charter transport services, ensured that the company now had comprehensive offering to cater for all passengers and ensured the broadest range of coverage.
In total, the company operates 280 coaches across its three primary business units.
“We offer our passengers world-class, safe, dependable and affordable travel throughout South Africa,” Ferreira said.
Intercape’s fleet of modern coaches provide world-class standards in passenger comfort and safety. All coaches are equipped with the latest technology, including specialised safety equipment, heating and air conditioning, video and audio entertainments systems, on-board restroom facilities, super-soft reclining seats fitted with individual safety belts, and individual arm rests and reading lights.
This is accompanied by rigorous safety checks and protocols on all its vehicles.INFO SUPPLIED
