WATCH THE SPACE!!!! The much anticipated second installment of DSTV eKasi Champ of Champs spectacular football tournament is back with bang.
This time around it’s bigger, better and has spread its wings by involving teams from other provinces out of Gauteng.
This pulsating football tourney that also goes with a moniker name “Bosso Kemang” is famous for displaying rare dazzling township football skills that can only be found in Mzansi.
At a recent launch and draw held at Konka in Pimville , Soweto, organizers issued a big invitation to football fans to come in droves and promised them nothing but fireworks, thrilling and exhilarating football of high pedigree.
Kick-off is expected on June 16 until July 02 and eight teams are expected to lock horns to determine Bosso ke Mang.
Tshepiso Mkhambi, from DSTV told journalists on the sidelines these games provide professionalism that makes life easier for them as Broadcasters.
“There is a hunger for such tournaments in our communities and our ultimate goal is to make this tournament a national tournament.”
Furthermore a terse statement by the organizers described DStv eKasi Champ of Champs as a tourney that has flair, skill and flamboyance in abundance.
“This tournament has all the champions from east, north, west, south and central Gauteng regions play in 5 qualifier tournaments with 8 teams per tournament from the surrounding townships. The champions from these 5 tournaments qualified for the 2023 DStv eKasi Champ of Champs tournament together with three invitational champions from outside Gauteng -Ramokoka United (North West), Ramatlaohle FC (Limpopo)andPhaphama FC (Mpumalanga).”
They further revealed, the tournament will use a plate and cup competition format to determine winners. “Teams will play in a round robin and group winners and runners up will play for the main prize of R250 000 (Cup). The bottom two teams in both groups will play for R70 000 (Plate section).”
Tournament founder Philly Mathebula told this reporter he never thought these games will generate into a national tournament.
“We are giving young footballers a platform to shine. Our aim is to focus on football development.”
Mathebula also hinted a woman’s tournament is also on the cards.

The 2023 edition of DStv eKasi Champ of Champs tournament will be played at the KwaMahlobo grounds in Meadowlands, Moletsane Sports Complex in Moletsane with the final to be staged at the Dobsonville stadium.
